A former ATV rider is in a critical condition in hospital following a mudtracked crash, it has been reported.
The 26-year-old man from the town of Prahran died when he was struck by a vehicle in front of a local petrol station.
Prahran’s police and coroner were unable to provide any further details on the incident.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
An ATV accident has been confirmed as an ATV driver caused by mudtracks at the Prahlan petrol station in Prahnan state.
Photo: Facebook The ATV was on a track on the outskirts of the town and was travelling southbound at an average speed of 35km/h (20mph).
A number of vehicles were travelling in the same direction when they came into contact with the ATV.
There were no witnesses to the crash and the road was closed for a time.
“We are aware that a local man was struck and has died, the Pahran police have confirmed,” police spokesperson M. K. Kumar said.
He said the man had died at the scene.
Earlier, Prahnlan’s police confirmed a mud track crash at the petrol station was the result of an ATVs mud track.
Rural Prahnaan has been plagued by mud tracks since a series of accidents in 2013 left one person dead.
ATVs have also been blamed for a series to mud tracks in the town.
Since last year, police have been investigating the causes of the tracks, including mud, and have been forced to close off parts of the road.
