Toyota to build $1.2 billion Toyota Camry in California

A new report claims Toyota is set to build a new Camry crossover at its factory in Calabasas, California, that will reportedly come with a 4,000-horsepower V6 and up to 1,800 horsepower.

According to the LA Times, Toyota is eyeing a 2019 model with a four-door coupe, a hatchback, a sedan and a four door SUV.

The car is rumored to cost between $35,000 and $50,000, with the final price tag of $55,000.

As we reported earlier, Toyota has reportedly invested $1 billion into its Camry plant in Calapataca, Mexico, which will be the site of the new crossover, as well as a massive new plant in Mexico City.

The automaker has said that it will produce 300,000 Camrys each year starting in 2020.

The automaker is also reportedly building the first production model of the Prius hybrid, which it says will make its first foray into the United States.

The Prius will be sold at $28,000 with a three-year lease.
